Pope on the Patio

My German friend, Jan, sent me the above photo from a German newspaper - though I'm not sure which one. I decided to scan it after a few unsuccessful google image searches. It shows the Holy Father enjoying a drink on the patio of his brother's house at Regensburg. It must be one of the first shots of a pope in a suburban domestic setting - and I think it's great!

I didn't know that paparazzis exist in Rome too!

The foto was published by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as illustration to a critical article on the recent phenomenon of the ubiquitous cellphone lay paparazzi snapshotting around the country. (BILD, the German equivalent of the "Sun" has invited its readership to sent all such photos of celebrities...)

This photo was taken by one of these BILD lay paparazzi but the paper decided not to publish it then. More here.

Greetings in Christ, Father!
